AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands – Shell has awarded Hiber a global framework agreement to provide well integrity monitoring solutions.

Under the arrangement, all Shell entities and subsidiaries will be able to use HiberHilo, described as an end-to-end IoT solution for data-driven well monitoring.

The solution, which is based on satellite technology, allows companies to measure real-time temperature and pressure on unconnected wells in remote and offshore locations, and is already in place at Shell operations in the North Sea.

Shell aims to use it to cut travel to and from wells in remote locations, as well as deriving more data on well performance and monitoring of well integrity issues.

Operations in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa could provide the next installations for HiberHilo.
