MOSCOW – The semisubmersible Valaris 8505 has spudded the Yoti West-1Exp well for Lukoil on block 12 offshore Mexico.
This is Lukoil’s first exploration well on block 12. It will focus on turbidite deposits of Upper and Lower Miocene. Water depth is 207 m (679 ft).
The company said Yoti West-1Exp will provide geological and geophysical data needed to decide on further exploration of block 12.
The block 12 joint venture consists of Lukoil Upstream Mexico (operator, 60%) and Eni (40%). Their minimum obligations for the early stages of exploration are to drill one well.
