MELBOURNE, AustraliaFAR has awarded Schlumberger a bundled services contract for the forthcoming Bambo-1 well offshore The Gambia.

The scope covers supply of drilling fluids and cement for drilling operations and rental of the wireline services and logging equipment for the well.

All the equipment will be delivered either to the drillship Stena IceMAX or FAR’s operations base at the Port of Dakar, Senegal, ahead of the planned spud in late October/early November.

Other contracts for key services are in place, with long-lead materials and equipment on order and drill pipe already delivered to the Dakar shore base.

FAR expects to shortly award contracts for helicopter services and marine support vessels that will transport crew and equipment to the drillship.

In its latest results update, FAR also revealed that it is working with PetroNor, the new operator of the Sinapa (block 2) and Esperança (blocks 4A and 5A) licenses offshore Guinea-Bissau to finalize the 2022 work program and budget by the end of October. FAR aims to farm down its interest with the commitment well due to be drilled before October 2023.

The partners are reviewing a potential well location for the 2023 campaign with the Atum prospect the main drilling target.

PetroNor is also assessing the commerciality of the shallow-water, 13.4-MMbbl Sinapa discovery and the West and East Sinapa prospects (potentially 72 MMbbl combined) for a joint development with Sinapa.
