MELBOURNE, Australia – Diamond Offshore Drilling has begun mobilizing the semisubmersible Ocean Apex for BP’s Ironbark-1 exploration well in the Carnarvon basin offshore Western Australia.
According to BP’s partner Cue Energy, standard rig inspection and acceptance procedures are under way, and mobilization should take around 10 days.
The well on the potentially giant Ironbark gas prospect will be in the WA-359-P permit, 50 km (31 mi) from established infrastructure serving the North West Shelf LNG project.
Planned depth is around 5,500 m (18,044 ft). Other partners are Beach Energy and New Zealand Oil and Gas.
