OSLO, NorwayPanoro Energy is advancing preparations to drill its first commitment well on Tunisia’s Sfax Offshore exploration permit.

The SMW-1 well will test the Salloum West prospect in a fault block to the west and up-dip of the Salloum oil field, discovered and tested by British Gas in 1991.

Panoro has signed a contract for Rig O6 with state-owned drilling company CTF, and has also awarded contracts for piling operations and civil construction works on the wellsite, although these have been delayed pending ministerial approval.

Offshore Gabon, the BW-operated Tortue field continues to produce from four wells, Panoro added in its latest results statement. Of the remaining Phase 2 wells, DTM-6H has been drilled and completed but so far not hooked up to the FPSO, while DTM-7H is still to be drilled.

BW plans to resume activities at Tortue and complete the Phase 2 drilling early next year, and has signed a letter of intent with Borr for the remaining Phase 2 wells.

The next planned development on the Dussafu block is Ruche Phase 1, comprising four production wells at the Hibiscus field and two at the Ruche field, tied back to the FPSO BW Adolo via a platform and pipeline.

Currently planning and engineering are on hold until conditions improve.
