Petronas books Maersk rig to drill offshore Suriname

Petronas has contracted Maersk Drilling’s semisubmersible Mærsk Developer for a one-well exploration campaign in block 52 offshore Suriname.

LYNGBY, Denmark – Petronas has contracted Maersk Drilling’s semisubmersible Mærsk Developer for a one-well exploration campaign in block 52 offshore Suriname.

The contract is set to start in 3Q/4Q 2020, with an estimated duration of 75 days, and is valued at around $20.4 million, including integrated drilling services, mobilization and demobilization.

It also carries an additional one-well option.

The Mærsk Developer is a DSS-21 column-stabilized, dynamically positioned semi, designed to operate in water depths of up to 10,000 ft (3,048 m). It is presently warm-stacked in Aruba after finishing its latest contract offshore Trinidad and Tobago.
