DUBLIN, IrelandEuropa Oil and Gas has completed the well engineering design for its first planned well on the Inishkea prospect offshore northwest Ireland.

Inishkea is a large fault bounded Triassic structure in Slyne basin license FEL 4/19, northwest of the producing Corrib gas field.

The reservoir is Triassic age sandstone sourced from the underlying Carboniferous. Europa estimates potential resources in the 244-1,528 bcf range.

The company had intended to acquire a site survey this summer and had started the regulatory consent process in January.

It remains hopeful of securing approval before year-end, but the delay in granting permission means that site survey operations will now likely take place in 2020, with drilling pushed back to 2021 at the earliest.
