    Dana Gas preparing for first deepwater Egypt well

    Egypt’s government has paid Dana Gas $20 million with further payments likely to follow before year-end.

    SHARJAH, UAE – Egypt’s government has paid Dana Gas $20 million with further payments likely to follow before year-end.

    These will allow the company to proceed with plans to drill the Merak deepwater exploration well, its first on the block 6 North El Arish Concession Area, said CEO Dr Patrick Allman-Ward.

    Drilling should get under way next year.
