ROGER, Louisiana -- The “top kill” operation at the Deepwater Horizon leak site appears to be a success, according to several news sources in the area. There has been no official comment by BP or by the US Unified Command organization as of this time.

Offshore will update our Deepwater Horizon incident & oil spill recovery website as more is confirmed.

The operation, which began at 1 p.m. yesterday, stopped the oil flow. The next step in the process of controlling the well, says BP, is to cement the well.

Mitigation of the oil already spilled will continue.
