KENNER, Louisiana -- The joint investigation into the Deepwater Horizonevents has ended its second session.  The US Coast Guard and Minerals Management Service expect to hold two more public hearings, and the next one is scheduled tentatively to re-start on July 13 in Kenner. The purpose of the next set of hearings is to focus on the "how" and "why" of the disaster.

The joint investigation follows the policies and procedures for a U.S Coast Guard Marine Board of Investigation per 46 Code of Federal Regulations Part 4 and USCG policy. The facts collected at this hearing, along with the lead investigators' conclusions and recommendations will be forwarded to Coast Guard Headquarters and MMS for approval.
