Deepwater Horizon: Safety zone established around containment booms

The Coast Guard Captain of the Port of New Orleans has established a 100 m (328 ft) safety zone around the Deepwater Horizon-related oil containment booming operations.

HOUMA, Louisiana – The Coast Guard Captain of the Port of New Orleans has established a 100 m (328 ft) safety zone around the Deepwater Horizon-related oil containment booming operations. The stated purpose is to protect responders and the containment equipment and operations.

If a safety area cannot be avoided, permission to enter can be granted by the Port Captain.
