WASHINGTON, D.C. – BP has gotten permission to conduct a BOP fishing procedure. National Incident Commander Admiral Thad Allen sent BP a directive authorizing the procedure over the weekend.

Among the elements of the approval was a call for BP to remove and replace the existing BOP provided steps are taken to preserve forensic evidence that might be associated with the BOP. BP also has to have live ROV video from the operations to document what happens subsea.
