BHP on track for next deepwater Trinidad and Tobago well

BHP expects the drillship Deepwater Invictus to mobilize to Trinidad and Tobago in the next few months to drill an exploration well on the Broadside prospect in the company’s southern licenses.

The program, part of BHP’s Phase 5 deepwater drilling campaign, should go ahead pending any further COVID-19 constraints.

In the US Gulf of Mexico, following Lease Sale 254, the company has secured blocks GC80 and GC123 in the Green Canyon central region. The company was also awarded block GB721 in the western GoM and was the apparent high bidder for blocks AC36, AC80, and AC81 in this area.

Offshore Southeast Australia, the company is participating in a multi-client 3D seismic survey in the Gippsland basin, due to be completed in the September 2020 quarter.

The Bass Strait West Barracouta project remains on schedule and budget for first production in the 2021 calendar year, despite delays to delivery of certain components and some equipment fabrication due to COVID-19 restrictions.
