PERTH, Australia -- Engineering and construction company Clough Ltd. has appointed John Smith as CEO, effective Aug. 1, 2007. John Cooper, current CEO, will remain in his position until Smith joins the company and will continue as a company director.

With 30 years experience in the industry Smith has worked for Brown & Root Energy Services, Halliburton-Subsea, and Subsea7. He currently heads the consulting business he established in 2004.

Smith holds a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Glasgow and serves as director on the boards of Subsea7, Remora Technology and Orion Comtetentia.

"John has demonstrated both strong operational and strategic leadership of contracting organizations similar in size and complexity to Clough," says Mike Harding, Clough chairman. "Clough is determined to grow its business, particularly within the oil and gas sector, and John's strong industry knowledge will be a major asset to that process."
