NPD names new director general

STAVANGER, Norway -- NPD has appointed Bente Nyland as director general. She succeeds Gunnar Berge, who left the post in June 2007.

Nyland has worked with the NPD since 1989 and has been responsible for undiscovered resources, exploration of new areas, and license award rounds.

She obtained a geology degree from the University of Oslo and has previously worked for Statoil.
