LONDON -- Royal Dutch Shell has appointed Bruce Levell as chief scientist of geology.

"With his 29 years of experience, Bruce will play a pivotal role in helping Shell find and develop new hydrocarbons in some of the deepest and most challenging reservoirs of the world," says Matthias Bichsel, executive VP technical for Shell Exploration and Production.
