Santos appoints CEO

Santos has appointed David Knox as CEO and managing director.

ADELAIDE, Australia -- Santos has appointed David Knox as CEO and managing director. Knox has served as acting CEO since March 2008.

"An international executive search firm was retained, and Santos considered both internal and external candidates before the Board determined to appoint David," says Stephen Gerlach, chairman. "David is the best person to lead Santos in its next phase of domestic and international expansion. His extensive industry experience and demonstrable leadership qualities resulted in his selection as the best candidate."

Knox has 25 years of experience in the petroleum industry. Knox joined Santos in 2007 as executive VP, growth businesses, responsible for growth in new businesses including LNG, geoscience, and new ventures, Indonesia, and other strategic projects. From 2003 to 2007, he served as managing director for BP developments in Australasia. He has held senior positions with BP in Australia, the UK, and Pakistan. Knox also has worked for ARCO and Shell in the US, Netherlands, the UK, and Norway.
