ABERDEEN, UK -- Walker Technical Resources Ltd. has appointed Professor Simon Frost as technical director.

Frost still will retain his Newcastle University position, says Graham Birnie, WTR managing director.

Frost has spent 23 years in the oil and gas industry, including 16 years at Shell as principal mechanical/materials and corrosion engineer. He is the chairman of the UK Composite Working Group, founder member of the ASME technical committee on composite repairs, and author of the ISO and ASME standards. As an expert on composite materials and adhesives Frost will continue to be a specialist consultant for projects globally, according to WTR.

"Simon is one of the world's leading experts in composite repairs and is consulted regularly by all of the international and national oil companies," says Birnie. "His technical expertise will aid WTR's plans for global expansion and open doors to new markets."

WTR also has appointed Jacco Huipen, as WTR's new head of marketing and sales.

Formerly, Huipen was proposals manager and project manager for Halliburton Pipeline and Process Services, and also was previously global marketing manager at Subsea 7.
