Nexen appoints CEO

Nexen has appointed Marvin Romanow as president and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2009.

CALGARY, Canada -- Nexen has appointed Marvin Romanow as president and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2009. He will also join the company's board of directors. Romanow replaces retiring president and CEO Charlie Fischer.

"The board wants to recognize Charlie Fischer for his leadership and dedication to making Nexen one of Canada's top energy companies," says Francis Saville, Nexen's chairman. "With the industry experience and business judgment that Marvin Romanow brings to the table, we are confident in the future of the company under his leadership."
