Rowan names CEO

Rowan Companies has named W. Matt Ralls as president, CEO, and member of the board of directors, succeeding D.F. McNease, who announced his retirement in October.

HOUSTON -- Rowan Companies has named W. Matt Ralls as president, CEO, and member of the board of directors, succeeding D.F. McNease, who announced his retirement in October. Ralls most recently served as executive VP and COO of GlobalSantaFe Corp.

"Rowan is a leader in providing quality jackup rigs capable of completing the deepest drilling in the toughest environments, with a long tradition of growing and adapting to serve the needs of the industry. The company has also appointed Jack Lentz as chairman of the board, effective Jan. 1, 2009.
