EL DORADO, Arkansas -- The president and CEO of Murphy Oil Corp., Claiborne P. Deming, will retire effective Dec. 31, 2008. David M. Wood executive VP, worldwide E&P operations, will become president and CEO.
Wood joined Murphy in 1994 and has held several positions including VP and senior VP of frontier E&P and president of Murphy E&P Co. In January 2007, Wood became executive VP for all E&P operations.
Deming was president and CEO since 1994. He now will serve as chairman of the board's executive committee. The current chairman, William Nolan will remain chairman of the board.
