HOUSTON -- The International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) and ReedHycalog have named Claus Chur of KCA DEUTAG the 2008 Contractor of the Year. Chur has worked in the drilling industry for over 28 years in international markets.
He has served in numerous leadership roles within the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the IADC. In 2006, Chur served as chairman of IADC. He is also the author of several publications and serves on industry and government advisory committees.
Chur received his master's degree in petroleum and drilling engineering in 1979 from
the Clausthal University of Technology, in Germany. Award sponsor ReedHycalog made a
$7,500 scholarship contribution that Claus Chur elected to donate to the Institute of Petroleum Engineering at the Clausthal University of Technology.
