John Hickman, senior VP of Baker Energy, has passed away. “John was a fully committed and passionate employee of Baker Energy,” says Donald P. Fusilli Jr., former president and CEO of Michael Baker Corp. and president of Baker Energy. “He was my source of information, education, and support. His efforts made Baker Energy number one in the Gulf of Mexico. We will miss him.”

Statoil and Hydro have completed their merger, forming a new company with 31,000 employees in 40 countries. The company name will be StatoilHydro ASA.

Cooper Energy has agreed to farm into 35% of the Hammamet PSC offshore Tunisia. Cooper holds 100% of the adjacent Bargou permit area.

Mobil Producing Nigeria has re-awarded a contract to Velosi Ltd. for services involving offshore fabrication, erection, and commissioning of production, drilling, and living quarters platforms plus oversight of laying and installation of subsea pipelines offshore Nigeria.

The Ukraine government has signed the Prykerchenska production sharing agreement withVanco Energy Co. The government says that the agreement gives Vanco the opportunity to explore the deepwater part of Ukraine’s Black Sea and to develop the Prykerchenska block.

Faroe Petroleum Plc. has agreed to acquire First Oil Expro Ltd.’s 18.75% stake in Wissey gas field development in the southern North Sea.

BP is restructuring. The company will soon consist of just two business segments: exploration and production, and refining and marketing. The current third segment, gas, power and renewables, will be incorporated into the other two divisions.

Singapore Petroleum Co. Ltd. has increased its shareholding in Cue Energy Resources Ltd. to approximately 9.5%.

Triton Group, a specialist in remote intervention services, has acquired Singapore-based Cynergetix.

Non-destructive testing and inspection specialistApplus+ RTD has acquired Norway’s Rogaland Material Inspeksjon.

Stabil Drill has acquired Donnie Williams Tool Co. and J&S Hole Opener Rentals.

Dana Petroleum (E&P) Ltd. has acquired Devon Egypt’s entire upstream petroleum business interests in Egypt. The $375-millon deal includes eight companies and eight production sharing contracts.

Scomi Engineering Bhd will supply Saudi Aramco with casing and connectors.

Pertra and DNO are set to merge, forming what they describe as Norway’s second largest operator.

Subsidiaries ofNexen Inc. and Mexico’s state-run oil company Pemex have signed a general collaboration agreement. The agreement outlines a framework for collaboration in areas of research, training, and oil and gas exploration and production, particularly deepwater and coal bed methane.

Signal International Llc has completed the acquisition of Texas-based Buckley and Son Inc. The company will continue doing business under the name Buckley and Son.

Schlumberger has acquired a minority interest in Norwegian-based PetroMarker. The company specializes in the development of marine electromagnetics technologies.

Total Midstream Holding UK has sold its 10% interest in Interconnector (UK) to Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec.

Ezra Holdings Ltd. expects gross proceeds of $177 million from its divestment of 43.4 million existing shares of subsidiary EOC Ltd.

Rolls-Royce has acquired US naval architecture and engineering firm Seaworthy Systems Inc. to improve its marine support services.

Arcapita Inc.’s affiliates have signed a $369-million definitive purchase agreement to acquire Varel Holdings from KRG Capital Partners.

Bristow Group has exercised options to acquire an additional four S-92(R) helicopters and three S-76C++(TM) helicopters from Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. The purchase is valued at more than $100 million.

Abermed has acquired Edinburgh-based Offshore Medical Services for an undisclosed sum. The Edinburgh operation adds to Abermed’s existing network of offices in Inverness, Aberdeen, and Glasgow.

Swiber Holdings Ltd.has worked out a financing package with R.S. Platou Finans Shipping A.S.for five of its new offshore support vessels.

CarigaliHess Operating Co. has contracted HB Rentals to supply high-specification office and welfare facilities in the Cakerawala field offshore Malaysia.

Jurong Shipyard is finalizing joint venture terms and conditions withWTorre Empreendimentos Imobiliários SA (WTorre) for a shipyard to serve West Africa and Brazil oil and gas sectors. The yard will be in Brazil.

Noble Denton Group has opened an office in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Yokogawa Europe has established Yokogawa Norge, a branch office in Norway. The office will support the company’s activities in the Northwest European offshore oil and gas sector.

Callon Petroleum Co. has initiated a search for a partner in the Entrada field development in the Gulf of Mexico. Callon currently is 100% owner and operator of Entrada in Garden Banks blocks 738, 782, 785, 826, and 827.

Petronas Bhd. has worked out a $418-million deal to acquire Woodside Energy Ltd.’s Mauritanian assets, including the Chinguetti oil field. The company is acquiring the assets from Woodside subsidiaries Woodside Mauritania Pty. Ltd. and WEL Mauritania BV.

Superior Energy Services Inc. has opened an office in Singapore. The location will serve as a base of operations for Superior Energy Services’ marine division, HB Rentals, and Premier Oilfield Rentals.

Wärtsilä’s ship power unit is reorganizing into segments: merchant, offshore, cruise & ferry, navy, and special vessels. The company says the restructuring is “to respond better to market requirements, in terms of value proposition and technology development, as well as to be prepared for market fluctuations.”

Pan Pacific Petroleum NL says evaluation of the Maitland-2 well in permit WA-33-R in the Carnarvon basin offshore Australia has been completed.

AGR Group’s petroleum services division has signed a 270-day minimum well management contract with field operator PA Resources for wells in the Didon field and the Zarat permit offshore Tunisia.

Landmark has acquired the intellectual property, assets, and existing business of GeoSmith Consulting Group Llc of Minnetonka, Minnesota.

Newfield Exploration has signed a purchase and sale agreement to sell all of its interests in the UK North Sea to Centrica for $486.4 million. The sale is expected to close in 4Q 2007. This marks a complete exit by the company from the North Sea.

Swiber Holdings Ltd.has signed a memorandum of understanding with Rahaman Sendirian Berhad of Brunei to undertake projects in the sultanate.
