HOUSTON — Nick Walker has joined Vår Energi as its new CEO to spearhead the company's strategy execution, market engagement and stakeholder management. Read more. 

The future Wintershall Dea management board will comprise three members: Chairman and CEO Mario Mehren, COO Dawn Summers and CFO Paul Smith. CTO and board member Hugo Dijkgraaf will leave the company Nov. 30. His areas of responsibility will be transferred to the other Board members. The management board had already been reduced in size with the departure of Thilo Wieland, responsible for region Russia, Latin America and transportation, earlier in 2023.

DNO ASA, the Norwegian oil and gas operator, has appointed Christopher Spencer managing director of the company, as Bjørn Dale steps down as part of a planned management transition initiated last year.

RenewableUK has appointed Claire Coutinho secretary of state for energy security and net zero. This follows Grant Shapps’s move to the position of defense secretary. In addition, Paul Cooley, SSE Renewables global offshore wind director, was elected by the rest of the board as its new chair, and Una Brosnan, senior vice president (SVP) head of Ireland at Mainstream Renewable Power, was elected vice chair. Both are currently board members and will take up their new roles this month. The six co-optees to the board are Laura Fleming, country managing director for Hitachi Energy in the UK and Ireland; Cristina Garcia Duffy, technical director at ORE Catapult; Adam Morrison, Ocean Winds country manager UK; David Rooney, SVP, offshore sales Northern and Central Europe for Vestas; Iain Sinclair, executive director, Global Energy Group; and Tristan Zipfel, EDF’s director of strategy and analysis. Fleming is continuing as a co-opted board member; the other five are new co-optees. They will be in post for a year, starting this month.

Ronan Cassidy, Shell Plc’s chief human resources (HR) and corporate officer, will step down, effective Dec. 31, and leave the group service thereafter. Rachel Solway, currently executive vice president, HR organization development and learning, will succeed Cassidy, effective Jan. 1, 2024, and will be based in London.

Scantrol, a provider of control systems for the maritime and offshore industry, has appointed Terje Ånderbakk project manager.

Norwegian Offshore Wind has hired former Antler director Narve Hansen to lead the work with Norway´s first offshore wind accelerator. 

VideoRay, a provider of underwater robotic systems, has welcomed Margo Newcombe as vice president, marketing and partner programs. 

ICR Group, a provider of maintenance inspection and integrity technology, has appointed two business development directors in the US. Brian Begnaud, who will be based in Lafayette, while Brandon Kangas will be based in Houston.

Environmental engineering firm Brown and Caldwell has named Allan Luk senior director of digital solutions.
