SCHIEDAM, the Netherlands — Coastal International Marine (CIM) has ordered a 100-mt capacity deepwater knuckle boom crane from Huisman.

CIM is part of Malaysia-based Coastal Contracts, an oil and gas services/energy infrastructure provider. The crane will have a deepwater winch and active heave compensation.

Huisman recently introduced its optimized KBC series for the subsea construction market, said to offer enhanced energy efficiency, advanced automation and improved safety features.

The cranes can be delivered fully electric, with patented electrical integration with the vessel's battery banks.

In March a Japanese client ordered a similar capacity crane for integration into a cable-lay and construction vessel.

Huisman will manufacture the crane and winch locally in Asia.
