Haas Automation adds to Toolroom series
Offshore staff
OXNARD, California -- Haas Automation has added the large-capacity TL-4 to its Toolroom Lathes series. The machine offers a large-diameter spindle, high swing and length capacities, and front and rear spindle noses. It also has full-CNC flexibility and Hass' Intuitive Programming System.
The TL-4 handles heavy pipes and fittings, large couplers, and long rollers. It has maximum part swings of 35 in. (89 cm) over the front apron and 16 in. (41 cm) over the cross slide, with an x-axis travel of 18 in. (46 cm). The distance between centers is 91 in. (231 cm), allowing a maximum cutting length of 80 in. (203 cm).
A 55-hp vector dual-drive unit powers the spindle through a Haas-built two-speed gearbox to provide 4,000 ft/lb (1,219 m/lb) of torque in low gear. For faster cuts, high gear provides a maximum spindle speed of 500 rpm. Both front and rear A1-20 spindle noses accept a variety of chucks up to 25-in. (64-cm) diameter. Other standard features include a traveling chip guard, a 15-in. (38-m) color LCD monitor with USB port, a coolant system, and a manual tailstock with adjustable quill.
