SAN DIEGO, California -- SKF has released a new line of rolling bearings designed with integral seals. The products provide a practical solution to protect against contaminants and retain lubricant. Also offered are pre-lubricated "greased for life" versions of the product.

The family of integral seals for rolling bearings includes shields, low-friction, and contact types manufactured from nitrile rubber. The seals are selected based on operating speed and friction requirements. According to the company, the product is engineered to promote lubricant retention and protect against potential external contaminant damage from incompatible mineral oil-based lubricants, fuels, other oils and greases, dust, and water, among others.

Additional benefits of integral seals include the capability to simplify bearing arrangements (external seals are unnecessary) and to "drop in" sealed bearings within existing envelopes without reconfiguring designs.

SKF offers integral seals in various sizes and the product can be incorporated in a wide range of rolling bearing types, including ball bearings (deep groove, angular contact, and self-aligning) and roller bearings (cylindrical, needle, spherical, and toroidal). Customized sealing solutions can be developed to satisfy particular application requirements.
