CAMBRIDGE, UK -- Larsen Oil & Gas will use AVEVA Marine solutions to design and construct what it says will be the world's largest jackup platform.

In mid-2007, Larsen's PetrolProd Ltd., signed a contract with Jurong Shipyard Pte. Ltd. of Singapore for the construction of the $440-million jackup.

"We need the solid engineering IT solutions provided by AVEVA Marine especially in this highly complex project," says Geir Eik, technical manager of Larsen Oil & Gas. "The platform, which will be used for simultaneously drilling and production in water depths to 150 m (492 ft) in harsh environments, has to comply with rules and regulations of the stringent Norwegian sector. There is no margin for error."
