HOUSTON -- Mako DeepWater has delivered a new subsea load cell. The company says it is a low-cost alternative for accurate and reliable load readings for lifting subsea structures.

"With the water depths the industry is currently working in, we found our clients were looking for a way to eliminate the chance of over pulling or damaging their subsea hardware when making lifts," says Tom Ayars, president of Mako DeepWater.

"There also seemed to be a disappointment with the load cell options on the market due to their cost and complex design. Our thought was to go back to the basics, avoid the high tech approach and give them something that is rugged, easy to maintain, and economical."

Mako's load cell has no electrical or battery-operated components. It is manufactured of stainless components and it is oil-filled to mitigate corrosion. The product's calibration certification is good for one year and it can be recertified annually.
