ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Weed Instrument has introduced a redundant ring Ethernet switch, approved by Factory Mutual (FM) for operation in Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations.

According to the company, the new EOTec 2104 Industrial Ethernet Ring Switch incorporates many of the features found in a managed Ethernet switch, but at a significantly lower cost.

The product is preconfigured for ring redundancy, offering virtual "plug-and-play" performance for quick and easy startup and commissioning, the company says. The switch uses self-healing ring topology (i.e. port mirroring, broadcast storm protection, priority queuing, etc.).

In addition to offering fast recovery time, the switch allows for real-time data transfer with IEEE 802.3 Ethernet compliance. Designed for industrial and process control applications, the standard operating temperature range of the switch is -40 to +85 °C. Plug in expansion modules for additional copper/fiber ports and universal redundant power supplies are also available.
