GALWAY, Ireland --MCS has introduced PipeLay Version 2.4, an enhancement of its existing software for offshore pipe installation analysis. This is also the final release of the PipeLay Phase II joint industry project, supported by Allseas, Heerema, Saipem, SBM, Technip, and Petrobras.
The new verson is said to provide enhanced pipe-in-pipe and pipe-on-pipe modeling capability, and dynamic pipe pay-out and pay-in modeling. It also allows the user to work with installation criteria such as seabed contact, axial stress and strain, and lay back.
An elastic seabed modeling capability also is available, including examples for davit lift, DMA start-up, and articulated stinger modeling. In addition, MCS has introduced improvements to the program's user interface, and has converted the Dynamic Display module to a real 3D display using Microsoft DirectX Version 9.
