SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland -- Tyco Valves and Controls has invested in two hyperbaric chambers to test ultra-deepwater valves for its Flow Control Technologies (FCT) division.

The two facilities can be used to simulate pressure conditions up to a depth of 3,000 m (9,842 ft), and to fully test subsea valve and actuator operation.

Each chamber has an equipment vertical loading system, with sufficient penetrations for electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic instrumentation, and ROV torque tools.

The facilities allow a range of tests including cycle testing many times beyond the valves/actuators’ operational requirements.
