ZUG, Switzerland -- Foster Wheeler’s Global Engineering and Construction Group will provide project management consultancy services for Iraq’s Crude Oil Export Expansion Project. The contract, awarded by South Oil Co. (SOC), covers installations offshore as well as onshore southern Iraq.

SOC is a company under the Ministry of Oil of the Republic of Iraq.

The project, scheduled for completion by July 2013, will include installation of two new offshore and onshore pipelines, along with three single point moorings (SPMs) and an offshore central manifold and metering platform. It should boost the Basra export capacity from 1.8 MMb/d of oil at present to 4.5 MMb/d by 2014.

Foster Wheeler's scope includes monitoring and administering purchase orders and contracts placed by SOC in accordance with the recommendations Foster Wheeler issued during its earlier basic engineering work for this project.

These contracts cover long-lead equipment items such as valves, line-pipe, the SPMs, and offshore/onshore EPC contract. Foster Wheeler also will recommend the award for the EPC contract for the central manifold and metering platform and associated jacket, and will subsequently supervise this program.
