MUMBAI-- ONGC has contracted Indian construction company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to refurbish an offshore drilling rig. The contract value is around $83 million.

The award went to L&T’s newly formed Floating Systems Business Unit (FSBU), which offers single-point responsibility for execution of offshore drilling rigs and floating production units both in India and overseas.

L&T’s all-weather fabrication facilities at Hazira and in Sohar, Oman, and the engineering offices of L&T-Valdel in Faridabad, Bangalore, and Chennai, all will support this contract.

On completion, the rig will be deployed to assist ONGC’s oil and gas drilling operations.
