GE signs Kazak maintenance accord

GE Oil & Gas has signed a technology transfer and license agreement with Kazak engineering plant operator JSC ZKMK.

ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN -- GE Oil & Gas has signed a technology transfer and license agreement with Kazak engineering plant operator JSC ZKMK.

Under the agreement, signed through GE’s Italian subsidiary Nuovo Pignone., ZKMK will perform repair services on GE gas turbines and centrifugal compressors installed in Kazakhstan and nearby countries, including Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

GE will provide ZKMK with technical training and services to support this program. ZKMK will upgrade its Uralsk manufacturing facility to handle maintenance work on GE’s installed fleet in the region, which includes over 50 gas turbines and 40 centrifugal compressors.

The two companies also plan to jointly produce, assemble, supply and service the GE10/2 11-plusMW range of gas turbines in Kazakhstan and the Central Asia region.
