STORD, Norway – Statoil has awarded Apply Leirvik a contract to engineer, procure, and construct a living quarter module and helideck to the Gudrun platform in the North Sea.

The 2,000-sq m (21,528-sq ft) quarters module will be equipped with 40 single cabins, an administration center, a central control room, and other facilities. The contract value is around $45 million. Both this and the helideck will be constructed in aluminum. Statoil’s choice was dictated by the need for low weight and minimal maintenance during operation.

Planning and design engineering are under way and aluminum pre-fabrication is scheduled to start March 2011. The module is due to be delivered in July 2012. Hook up to the deck of the new Gudrun platform will be performed at Aibel’s yard in Haugesund, Norway.

This will be Apply Leirvik’s 20th living quarter delivery to Statoil.
