ABB in Rhum management role

ABB controller equipment assisting newly onstream Rhum subsea development in the UK North Sea

Offshore staff

(Aberdeen) Gas production from BP's newly onstream Rhum field in the UK North Sea is being managed with the aid of an integrated ABB control system. This has been designed in two parts, one controlling the host Bruce platform and the other for Rhum, under development via three wells.

New associated processing facilities include two low pressure booster compressors on the Bruce compression reception platform. ABB's equipment comprises an AC460 controller, serial links to the emergency shutdown system and compressor performance controllers, S800 I/O panels, software for HVAC and LP booster compressors A and B, and use of an existing MOD 300 graphical interface for compressors and HVAC equipment.

For Rhum the supply scope includes an AC800M controller, and serial communications to a subsea master control system and AC460 controller.
