HOUSTON -- Omron Oilfield & Marine was contracted to supply the AC/DC power conversion and automated drilling control system for Atwood Oceanics' Aurora jackup.

The $3.5-million project includes AC/DC drive system, generator control and power distribution, and automated drilling controls. Deliveries are slated for early 2007 from Omron's Houston facility.

"After a detailed review of all data and discussions with short listed bidders, Omron Oilfield & Marine won the bid based on their proven track record, demonstration of their technical and manufacturing knowledge, and their willingness to work with Atwood on some of the innovative features of the Atwood Aurora system," said Mark Childers, general manager of technical services for Atwood.
