HOUSTON -- Halliburton has unveiled a perforating gun with a 7-in. (18-cm) outside diameter that can perform at pressures of up to 30,000 psi (207 MPa). According to the company, it is the highest pressure-rated gun system available at that size and it addresses the need for extreme high-pressure capabilities in large borehole casings, specifically in deepwater environments.

Halliburton also is designing additional 30,000 psi gun systems and firing heads in varying sizes.
