Fugro Chance completes GoM deepwater well-set project
Offshore staff
OSLO -- Fugro Chance has completed work on a deepwater well-set project in the Gulf of Mexico. The company was responsible for the positioning of three offset wells relative to an existing well in 3,000 ft (914 m) of water. To enable sparse ranging into the tightly coupled inertial navigation system (INS) solution, the company employed its FineTrack T-100 INS, along with wideband medium frequency (MF) acoustic positioning.
With FineTrack T-100 INS positioning used for the rig-based ROV, well demarcation was achieved at better than 1-ft (0.3 -m) accuracy, the company says. Following successful spud-in within the well demarcation location, well as-built positioning was attained.
All operations were performance from the drilling rig using the rig-based ROV, including LBL compatt placement.
