ROTHERAM, UK -- Cutting & Wear has launched a new insert design named Swordfish.
The new insert is aimed at downhole fishing and packer removal applications. It combines the features and technical performance of two of Cutting & Wear's most popular fishing inserts into one unique product, the company says.
Cutting & Wear's Brand X is a circular insert with one chip breaker and a relief, whereas their HF2000 is square with many chip breakers but no relief. The Swordfish has structure relief and features numerous chip breakers. The unique design of Swordfish also means that it can be arranged with a positive or negative rake to vary the aggressiveness of the cutting action and thus widen the application range and effectiveness of the cutting process, the company says.
Manufactured from proven cutting grade tungsten carbide, Swordfish is applied in an inter-locking pattern that resembles fish scales and gives excellent coverage of the hardfaced area, the company says.
