StatoilHydro receives consent for Troll A modifications
Offshore staff
OSLO -- StatoilHydro has received consent from the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority to carry out major modifications of the permanent facility Troll A. The consent is for an expansion of living quarters and replacement of the emergency shutdown system.
The Troll A living quarters will be expanded by 150 beds. Two new freefall life boats and two escape chutes will be installed as well.
According to StatoilHydro, the expansion is necessary to increase crew on the facility in connection with the installation of more compressors and to ensure future exploitation of gas and oil reserves at the Troll field.
The programmable part of the existing emergency shutdown system will be replaced by a new system able to handle all new projects at Troll A.
Construction will be carried out from 2009 until 2011.
