CHESTER, UK -- QHP Ltd. has won a contract to design, manufacturer, and supply hydraulic accumulators for the Valhall drilling platform in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The platform is under going major refurbishment and improvement work to meet modern-day regulations, the company says.
QHP is supplying low pressure, high pressure, and very high pressure accumulators as part of a replacement Hydraulic Power Pack (HPU) and Wellhead Control Platform (WCP) for the 27 year-old platform. The company also is constructing a container to house the new HPU and WCP units, which are designed to work continuously for 36,500 hours.
