HOUSTON -- Egypt-based Advanced Energy Systems (ADES) is upgrading its preventative maintenance system with a software-based approach. The company has selected ABS Nautical Systems’ (NS) NS5 fleet management software for the management of their self-propelled, self elevating jackup barge operating in the Red Sea and Mediterranean region.

ADES will use NS5’s Maintenance & Repair, Purchasing & Inventory, and Replication Manager modules. Discussions are under way to expand the system to the crewing and quality departments within the next year.

“NS5 is a good fit for us. It is an off-the-shelf solution which keeps our costs low, but has built-in configurations to customize the software so it works best for how we manage our preventive maintenance,” says Nader Khames Abdelaziz, GM of ADES. “We anticipate many benefits, including improved communications between our main office and offshore units, a streamlined work cycle with less delay, and reduced operating expenses.”
