Rolls-Royce receives equipment contracts

Rolls-Royce has won two contracts totaling $168.1 million to supply propulsion equipment for offshore vessels being built in China and Korea.

LONDON -- Rolls-Royce has won two contracts totaling $168.1 million to supply propulsion equipment for offshore vessels being built in China and Korea.

Stena Drilling placed an $88-million order for the supply of propulsion equipment for a ship specially designed to drill for oil in the harsh environment of the arctic. Stena also ordered Rolls-Royce thrusters for three other ships of this type and has reserved an option for a fifth vessel.

In addition, Rolls-Royce has signed an $80-million contract with Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding in China to deliver propulsion and control systems for 18 offshore supply vessels. The American ship owner, Tidewater has ordered 12 of the vessels being built at Fujian Mawei.
