ABU DHABI -- Qatar Shell has issued a Letter of Award including associated services to Offshore Solutions for the provision of its Offshore Access System (OAS), which allows the safe transfer of personnel from a vessel to an offshore installation.

The OAS is to be used for the Pearl GTL project being built in Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar. Built under a Development Sharing Agreement with the government of the State of Qatar, Pearl GTL will be the world's largest gas-to-liquids project, converting natural gas into a range of high quality liquid hydrocarbon products.

The OAS, due to be delivered in Qatar during 2Q 2010, is a heave-compensated telescopic gangway designed to connect and disconnect in 2.5-m (8.2-ft) Hs (significant wave height) sea states.
