FORT LORAMIE, Ohio -- Select-Arc has introduced a low alloy, nickel-bearing electrode designed for welding steels that require v-notch toughness and tensile strength in the 80,000-100,000 psi range.

Select 820-Ni2 is a flux cored wire intended for the welding of carbon and certain low alloy steels. This premium electrode produces a weld deposit with 2.2-2.5% nickel. Select 820-Ni2's specially formulated slag constituents provide puddle control and its fast freezing characteristics facilitate welding in all positions. It features a smooth spray arc transfer with minimal spatter. The bead profile is smooth, with minimum convexity, and slag removal is easy.

The new electrode is ideal for applications that involve offshore platform construction, earthmoving, mining machinery, and shipbuilding, according to Select-Arc.
