Kongsberg to supply OIG with new capstan reel riser/umbilical installation system

Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies has agreed to supply flexible risers and umbilicals installation system for the Offshore Installation Group’s capstan reel installation system (CRIS).

SANDVIKA, Norway – Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies has agreed to supply flexible risers and umbilicals installation system for the Offshore Installation Group’s capstan reel installation system (CRIS).
KOGT says it will develop, build, deliver, and install the system as a package for the installation vessel being built by OIG.
The CRIS replaces the installation tower and tensioner clamps with a reel that uses a capstan principle for installation control.
