DUBAI, UAE – Litre Meter has dispatched 43 VFF positive displacement flow meters to Singapore-based Oakwell Engineering.
These will be used for flow measurement of wax dispersants and pour point depressants (PPDs) on a chemical injection skid for the Al Jalilah field off Dubai.
The meters are designed to measure the flow of chemicals to an accuracy of 0.5%.
Wax dispersants can be used to break up and prevent reformation of hydrocarbon sludge deposits in offshore storage tanks, pipelines and hydrocarbon-producing formations, and to improve fluid flow by reducing the fluid viscosity. PPDs lower the viscosity of oil and help maintain flow rate by preventing build-up of wax crystals at low temperatures.
The VFF flowmeters measure the correct amount of dispersant and depressant chemicals needed for flow rate assurance. Accurate measurement of chemicals allows operators to keep costs down, as well as ensuring that optimum flow is maintained.
On Jalilah, the meters will operate at 10 liters/hr at 120 bar and 13 l/hr at 190 bar (2,755 psi).
