EAST KILBRIDE, UK – Caley Ocean Systems has supplied a large-diameter hose deployment system to SBM Offshore.

The system has been used to install two, large-diameter, reinforced, bonded rubber hose offloading lines for a catenary anchor leg mooring (CALM) buoy. Some sections of the Trelleborg Trelline hose are fitted with buoyancy modules.

Caley Ocean Systems built the equipment based on SBM’s concept, working with SBM to refine the hose deployment and lifting system design, reducing the size and weight of the A-frame structure, and the overall cycle times.

The system comprises an A-frame assembly, including winches and lifting gear with a top tension of 26 tons; an outrigging platform structure designed to withstand 200 tons of load, including a clamp, guidance system, handrails and walkways; and a 6.8-m (22.3-ft) diameter deployment wheel.

The equipment underwent comprehensive testing at Caley's quayside facility in Glasgow, Scotland, prior before being shipped for integration onboard the SBM Normand Installer. The system was then successfully used to deploy two offloading lines without any disruption in the assembly process, Caley says.
